…What in the world is CBD?
Hello PN Fam!
Today I want to share some game with you on a lifestyle product I use and truly believe in.
My goal is to educate you on the history, benefits, breaking new research and discoveries on Cannabinoids, aka, CBD.
I want to give you enough information to decide firsthand if you could improve your life with this Earthly product.
Cannabinoids have been making waves across the United States.
When cannabidiol (CBD) hit the market after federal legalization of hemp in 2018, it saw massive press attention and a huge spike in popularity, pervading nearly every product market from CBD sublingual to pet-friendly CBD, to CBD honey sticks and even CBD-infused pillows.
Hemp-derived CBD has every reason to continue shining, with efforts in the works to further understand its possible benefits for people experiencing pain, inflammation, skin conditions, and anxiety.
The Historical Uses
CBD was first successfully extracted by chemist Roger Adams in 1940. Shortly after, Dr. Raphael Mechoulam then took the baton from Adams, honing his focus on the cannabinoid.
By 1963, Mechoulam was able to describe the chemical structure of CBD. This helped build a foundation for understanding the cannabinoid and how it could be used in a therapeutic context.
Research into the therapeutic uses of CBD oils gained momentum in the 1980s when Mechoulam and other researchers began groundbreaking research on CBD for epilepsy.
“We found, after a lot of preclinical work in rats and mice, that CBD had anti-epileptic qualities,” said Mechoulam. Research on CBD continues as more and more people use CBD for its beneficial effects.
Traditional medications can help relieve stiffness and pain, but some people see CBD as a more natural option.
There is growing evidence that non-psychoactive compounds in cannabis (like CBD) may offer new treatments for chronic pain.
A 2019 study found that using CBD on the skin as an ointment can significantly reduce inflammatory skin conditions and scarring.
Various studies are studying the effect of CBD on Alzheimer’s disease.
In 2014, a rodent study from several reliable research sources found that CBD can help humans maintain the ability to recognize familiar faces. People with Alzheimer’s disease may lose this perspective. CBD can help slow the onset and development of Alzheimer’s disease.
More research is being done to better understand the dosage. Some scientists believe that treatments that contain both THC and CBD may be more effective.
A preliminary study in 2013 found that smokers who use CBD-containing inhalers smoke less than usual and no longer crave nicotine, which suggests that CBD may help people quit smoking.
The authors of the 2015 review found evidence that certain cannabinoids (such as CBD) can help people with opioid addiction.
Researchers have found that CBD can reduce some of the symptoms associated with drug abuse, such as anxiety, mood-related symptoms, pain and insomnia.
Treating acne is another promising use for CBD. This condition is caused in part by inflammation and overloading of the sebaceous glands in the body.
A 2014 study found that CBD reduced acne-causing sebum secretion, partly due to its anti-inflammatory effects.
Studies have shown that CBD can reduce inflammation from psoriasis and other inflammatory skin conditions.
Famous people that use it
Jennifer Aniston is an American actress, businesswoman, and producer who promotes and enjoys CBD because she claims CBD provides the support needed to manage anxiety and depression symptoms.
American music artist Beyoncé is building a hemp farm. During an interview with Harper’s Bazar, “Queen B” revealed how she discovered CBD, one of the main compounds of the cannabis plant.
“I discovered CBD on my last tour, and I’ve experienced its benefits for soreness and inflammation. It helped with my restless nights and the agitation that comes from not being able to fall asleep,” she told Harpers’ Bazar.
Beyoncé hasn’t found relief only from CBD but also healing properties in honey that benefit her and her children.
Such satisfaction brought her to decide to build a hemp and honey farm.
“I’m building hemp and a honey farm. I’ve even got hives on my roof!” she added.
Actor and comedian Pete Davison, best known for his work at SNL, also recognizes and uses CBD products. Pete mentioned that CBD works great for your body muscles and relieves pain.
Martha Stewart, the American businesswoman and writer recently teamed up with Canopy Growth to promote and manufacture organic CBD products made from hemp.
During one of her many collaborations, she advocates a range of pet products and plans to expand.
How To Use CBD
There are a variety of ways to take CBD.
For someone who has never taken CBD before ingesting it orally in the form of capsules or gummies would be the easiest option.
If you are already familiar with CBD, the best and fastest method of administering CBD would be by vape pens or sublingual tinctures.
Another great option would be applying CBD directly onto the skin in the form of a cream, lotion, or oil.

Types of CBD
There are several types of CBD to choose from. The most common types of CBD are isolate and full spectrum.
Isolate is a type of CBD that is separated from the rest of the compounds in the cannabis plant; according to an article, this produces a CBD product that tests as high as 99% pure CBD.
Full spectrum CBD, or whole plant CBD, will contain fats, waxes, and other fibrous materials from the hemp plant. Full spectrum also contains small amounts of THC, but not enough to get you “high,” according to experts.
CBD gummies typically have a glycerin, oil, or alcohol base and they come in various strengths and flavors. These are easy to consume. Just eat a gummy or two and go about your business. Make sure you get nano-infused CBD gummies or body won’t absorb any of the CBD because the molecules are too large.
Pet Treats! Is Polly pissing you the f*** off and won’t stop barking at your pile of socks on the ground?
You can get delicious CBD pet treats to help your furry friends relaxxxxxx.
Vaping. This is the fastest and most effective way to benefit from CBD. During vaporization, CBD enters your lungs and diffuses directly into your bloodstream rather than passing through your gut and liver. This avoids the first-pass effect altogether, allowing nearly four times as much CBD to enter your circulation for a maximum bioavailability of roughly 50 to 60 percent.
This is my preferred method of using CBD 🙂
Topical’s. Finally, CBD comes in the form of oils, creams, and lotions which are applied onto the skin.
I like to request my wonderful massage therapist, Robyn, to apply CBD to my sore muscles.
I notice faster recovery from pain and soreness when using CBD topical’s. Plus I always get super relaxed for the rest of the day after a much needed massage.
Why you need to use it
There are many reasons why you should use CBD.
CBD has the strongest scientific evidence for its effectiveness in treating chronic pain, epilepsy, and anxiety.
According to Harvard University, a study from the European Journal of Pain showed that applying CBD directly onto the skin could help lower inflammation and pain.
Also, using CBD to treat epilepsy in children was shown to reduce the number of seizures and, in some cases, it was able to stop them altogether.
And in terms of anxiety, CBD was shown to have “antidepressant-like” effects, according to breaking research evidence from doctors and scientists in this PubMed article from 2019
In many studies of the effects CBD has on anxiety, CBD has been shown to reduce anxiety in most cases. I personally consume CBD to ease my anxiety and to reduce pain from sore muscle and fatigue.
